if obama wins, i'll be interested to see how that plays out. because i think he gets some votes in exactly the same way, but also has (had?) the bit about expecting people to get involved. insisting on active work from supporter-citizens, rather than the abdication of power to a leader ("i'll fight for you," for example). that emphasis is very unusual; it's appealing but i wonder whether a significant body of supporters will really step after he's elected or, having eased its conscience, rest easy now its representative is in power.
